We have just enjoyed a glorious week at anchor after an unremarkable 10 hour trip north from Mooloolaba. While those of you in more southerly latitudes have been suffering through flooding rains we have had calm seas, and from time to time exhilarating sailing. It has also been very, very cold. Don’t be fooled by the apparent sunshine in the photograph that Peter took of me along the way, it was and is very cold.
We crossed the Wide Bay Bar an hour before the top of the tide, ably assisted by our new chart plotter. On this occasion it was almost glassy although the swell was considerable after days and days of SE winds and we found ourselves achieving speeds (SOG that is) of 8 knots. And so we entered “wonderland” with an overnight stop at Pelican Bay.
