Pancake Creek

With lots of rain and a strong wind warning* we were mostly boat bound during our Pancake Creek stay. However we are not complaining too often or too much because we hear that it has rained quite a bit at home. We did leave “Raven” after the heaviest of the rain cleared and had a chance to explore, to be bitten by sand flies and to re-new our acquaintance with some of the people we met in Bundaberg who were also taking shelter in the anchorage. Colin (“Soya”) caught a big mackerel en route to Pancake Creek and shared it with us. Peter is now inspired to buy some fishing gear in Gladstone because it seems everyone is catching lots of fish. The Bustard Head lighthouse is a well known feature of Pancake Creek.

*please note that we have been quite safe at anchor during the worst of the weather. We have access to excellent weather forecasts and are able to plan our trip accordingly. For the those of you who are familiar with it, “Rocky Met’s” thrice daily VHF weather transmissions are as good as ever.
